Welcome! Thanks for visiting my new website. As your Representative in Washington DC, I've been an independent voice in Congress for the people of Minnesota's Seventh District.

As a founding member of the Blue Dog Coalition of fiscally conservative Democrats, my first priority is to make sure that any legislation that is passed out of congress does not further contribute to our country’s growing deficit.

In Congress, I intend to continue working for Minnesota farmers and for rural economies all over our country as Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee. Along with making sure that we stick to a balanced budget, I want to maintain a strong public education system, and create more opportunities for post-secondary education.

Here at home, strong rural and agricultural economies require the private and public sectors to work together. Over the years, I've worked to make sure that federal assistance for agriculture, small business, and economic development partnerships support this goal. This approach has assisted private sector creation of new businesses and jobs across the 7th District.
